Knox Presbyterian Church

Thanks!

Speaking for the Facility Steering Committee, we hope you like the results of the project and that you can find innovative uses to attract new members and achieve our mission. We would like to thank the congregation and staff for their support of the FSC throughout the project. Without this we would never have made it through the last 3 ½ years, at least not with our sanity somewhat intact.

I want to personally thank the members of the FSC for their unending commitment to the church, the project, and each other. We have been through births, deaths, graduations, weddings, job changes, and many other important events in our personal lives during our time together and have not just stuck together, but have been a true source of strength to each other. All of the members have committed huge amounts of time and a significant piece of themselves into the project.

Sue Goll led the Building Design Committee, the technology design group, and has been my right hand throughout the construction phase, joining me in meeting with the architects and contractor on a weekly basis to work through the practical aspects of realizing our dream. Dee Dee Porter and Al Musser, along with Rena Hatcher and their Interiors subcommittee have done yeoman’s work to ensure that the finishes are interesting, attractive, coordinated, and within our budget. Believe me, everything would have been a boring beige and extremely practical if I had made the decisions. Jim Burner, Jr. has coordinated all of the moves out of and back into various parts of the building, along with the playground installation (which is not really part of this project).

Rena, Janet Hyde and Patti Matthewson, have worked to solicit your opinions and keep you informed throughout the project. Dick Nelson worked with the organ committee. Randy Johnson brought together a talented and diverse group to oversee the stained glass artist and design selection. Gary McGregor provided practical design guidance. Ken Ancona was the public face of the FSC early in the process and always managed to bring our discussions back to the important issues. Jeff Bayer was our financial liaison. Mark Nelson and the Cash Management Council have supported us by arranging for the financing, paying the bills, and ensuring that our work was coordinated with our ability to pay for it.

Blair Hatcher, as you are well-aware, brought us through the critical capital campaign with brilliant leadership and has continued to help the committee over the past two years. And, of course, Clinton Roberts has provided invaluable leadership to the process and has been an important link to the staff and their vision for the utilization of the building.

Each of us has family that has persevered through our endless weekend meetings and preoccupation with the project. We all knew that this would be a long, complicated process and have willingly given of ourselves. Please also remember in your thoughts and prayers the many others that serve our church in their own ways…Hesed House, Go & Serve, Teen Parent Connection, Stephen Ministry, and all of the others.

Now it’s up to you to LEARN, GROW and SERVE AS FOLLOWERS OF JESUS CHRIST!

Jim Jones, Chair
Facility Steering Committee
