Sports
Knox sponsors sports teams throughout the year, including women's and men's softball, adult co-ed volleyball and men's basketball. The teams are in leagues with other churches and clubs in the Naperville area. Come and join in good, clean fun and a healthy dose of Christian competition!

Bike Trips
Each summer Knox holds its annual Bike Trip for young and old! Riders from 13 to 73 enjoy tours of the scenic countryside during day rides, and rest at night at churches along the way.

 

 

 

     KNOX CENTURY BIKE RIDE

Join the fun for a final bike ride of the season and help benefit Loaves & Fishes Community Pantry of Naperville at the second Knox Century Bike Ride, Saturday, September 19, 2009!

Start the ride at Knox Presbyterian Church in central-Naperville and wind your way through residential neighborhoods and into the rich and picturesque farmland Southwest of town. Click Here for route and map.

Choose your challenge:

  • 100 Kilometer (62-mile) “Metric” Century
  • 28-mile loop
  • 14-mile Family Ride

Rest Stops and SAG Wagons

Food and Water at all rest stops!
   
SAG wagons and Route Monitors (on bikes) will be available to help     in emergencies.

Registration
Preregister by mail for a $10 discount! Download one Registration Form and one Waiver and Release Form for each rider.

  • Complete and mail forms with $25 payment per rider to Knox Presbyterian Church, 1105 Catalpa Ln., Naperville, IL 60540
  • All mail-in forms must be received by Friday, September 11
  • Children under 18 must have their Waiver signed by a parent or guardian
  • Children under 13 must have an adult rider (18-years-old or older) riding with them
  • On-site registration is available on September 20 at the Start/Finish line at Knox for $35 per rider
    • Registration opens at 6:30 a.m. and closes at 10:00 a.m.

Bring along

  • A bicycle in proper working condition
  • Spare tube and/or tire repair kit
  • Water or hydration drink
  • Suitable clothing for the day’s weather
  • ** A bicycle helmet in good condition **

The Loaves & Fishes Community Pantry Vision: Ending Hunger In Our Community

From July 1, 2008-June 30, 2009 Loaves & Fishes

  • 13,197 onsite and 2,581 home delivery visits provided nourishment for 52,662 individuals, a 10% increase over last year.
  • 1,044 families visited Loaves & Fishes for the first time, compared with 701 in the previous year, representing a 49% increase.
  • Supplied over 1,750,000 pounds of groceries to 2,171 different households in 15,228 distributions.
  • Made 2,581 deliveries to the homebound elderly and disabled, ensuring this vulnerable population regular access to nutritious food.
  • Approximately 50% of the hungry served are children under the age of 18.
  • Loaves & Fishes prepares 2,400 students in grades 1 through 12 for learning by supplying breakfast assistance during the school year and a special nutrition program in the summer.
  • Loaves & Fishes nourished 546 infants with baby food, formula, or diapers.

All mail-in forms must be received by Friday, September 11. On-site registration is available on September 19 at the Start/Finish line at Knox for $35 per rider. Registration is open between 7:30-8:30 a.m.

Rules of the Road
Please ride according to the State of Illinois Rules of the Road for bicycles. Safety is everyone’s responsibility. A fun ride is a safe ride!

Be courteous too. Early morning riders should take care to keep voices low while riding through residential neighborhoods.
