HESED HOUSE
Hesed House has four branches. Hesed House Inc. is a center for ministries providing services to poor and homeless persons. The Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry provides weekly grocery assistance for poor individuals and families not currently experiencing homelessness. The Aurora Soup Kitchen Inc. provides hot lunch on Mondays and Fridays to poor and homeless individuals and families. PADS Inc. is a multi-program organization providing various housing and other services to homeless individuals and families.
LIGHT-House Permanent Supportive Housing provides stable apartments for chronically homeless individuals and families. The Association for Individual Development (AID) has a full-time mental health conselor on-site at Hesed House. Aurora U.'s Harvesting Hope provides therapeutic play for homeless children.
Work continues on the acquisition of the building acrross the street in order to create a true comprehensive homeless resource center.
Locally, we continue our efforts to meet the needs of the homeless and the hungry. ‘Hesed’ means God’s unconditional love. Knox supports this mission by providing food and volunteers on the 4th Saturday of the month year round.
