Knox's Ryan Fabrizius & homeowner |
Each winter break for the past several years, Knox's Youth Council has scheduled a mission trip for young adults. These trips have been a great way to get back together with Knox friends and serve others. The decision was made to once again work with Amor Ministries and travel to Tijuana, Mexico to build homes for needy families. We stayed in the Amor camp in the countryside east of Tijuana and traveled each day into the near outskirts of the city, without power tools, from pouring the concrete foundation to applying the stucco. We were escorted at all times in Mexico by an Amor representative. As part of our work we met the family who would be living in the home.
Friends and other youth who are not members of Knox can participate in the trip by covering their total cost. They are encouraged to raise these funds from their home church/friends/families. We are available to assist in these fundraising efforts.
Knox Annual Young Adult Mission Trip
If you would like to join other college age and beyond young adults over New Year's weekend, contact either Bruce Burkelman or Rev. Robert Quiring. Interested youth will receive a packet of information about this year's trip!
Fundraiser
Authentic Tamale Sale - We would like to thank everyone who has prayed for us, participated in our tamale sale fundraiser and contributed donations for the trip. Additional donations can be dropped off at the Church Office with “Mexico Trip” on the memo line of the check or on the outside of the envelope. The home that we will build in Tijuana for a needy family will be a “house that Knox & friends built,” due to all of your support.
Please continue to pray for us as we prepare for this trip, fly to San Diego on December 28 and return home on January 1. Participants on the 2011-2012 trip are Kyle Jachcinski, Bryce Goll, Rev. Robert Thomas Quiring, Alison Mickelson, Derek Mickelson, Melissa Mickelson, Steven Mickelson, Anneke Miers, Kenneth Rood, Abbey Storey, Mark Storey and Bruce Burkelman.
