Parents have many choices in Naperville for their children; we all want the best. The heart of this program is your child. At Children's Day Out, you will find a program that nurtures children in their most formidable years and provides a Christian foundation. First, we help your child adjust to being away from mom or dad and then we prepare them for kindergarten with our Pre K curriculum. We are blessed to have a dedicated staff, many of our teachers have been with us between 5 and 15 years.

More About CDO
PROGRAM INTRODUCTION
Children’s Day Out operates as a ministry of Knox Presbyterian Church. Our objective is to provide a social foundation for each child in a Christian environment. We strive to provide an atmosphere in which each child can grow and:
1. Learn about his/her world
2. Communicate with others
3. Develop a sense of independence
4. Grow in Christian Fellowship
Our program is available to children aged 15 months through 5 (not yet in kindergarten). Children’s Day Out is held on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Each child may attend two days per week.
TUITION
Daily Tuition is $20. Payment can be made by check, cash or tickets. Tickets may be purchased for $150.00 for eight tickets; that is a $10 savings. Multiple sheets may be purchased. Tickets expire at the end of the school year and are non-refundable and non-transferable. A $10 fee will be charged for returned checks. If you are unable to attend on your scheduled day please contact us. There is a $15 cancellation fee for those that do not attend on a scheduled day.
REGISTRATION AND ATTENDANCE
Registration for the coming fall begins in January. At that time you may reserve a spot with a non-refundable fee of $60, $20 for each additional sibling, $35 for church members. Class sizes are limited and age ranges per class may vary.
Our program offers flexible attendance on a first come-first serve basis. Sign ups are held twice during the year, at each sign up you will pick days for the coming months.
SCHOOL CALENDAR
CDO follows the District 203 calendar for holidays and may be closed for church events. Calendars are provided at the start of the year.
PROGRAM EMPHASIS
Every child grows and develops at a different rate; we strive to engage every child to learn about their world through play. To help children prepare for their school years ahead our teachers will emphasize:
Name Recognition, Verbalization, Good Listening, Sharing, Gross and Fine Motor Skills, Numbers, Shapes and Colors, Letters and Letter Sounds, Politeness and Good Manners, Self Confidence and Independence
Our program also offers Pre K classes which expand on these concepts for children entering kindergarten.
Our classes at every age include: Circle time, center time, stories and singing, crafts, gym time, a CDO provided snack, lunch and free play.
SPECIAL EVENTS
Special activities are planned every month.
- Sanctuary Time allows the children an opportunity to experience our Sanctuary and hear a bible message from our pastors.
- Songfest is silly time. All classes gather to learn songs and dance.
- Movie Day presents a short video of a Bible story or theme which we emphasize throughout our program.
- Library Time brings everyone out of their classroom to the Library for story time.
MONTHLY CALENDARS/NEWSLETTERS
Calendars and Newsletters are provided every month. Calendars show the weekly themes, bible stories and activities that each class will be doing throughout the month. Newsletters provide information about the overall program and notify you of upcoming events.
LUNCH
Each child should bring a non-perishable lunch, including a drink. Be sure to send food that is easy for them to manage. Any food sent in your child’s lunch that could be potentially hazardous will not be served to your child.
SNACK
A simple mid-morning snack is provided by CDO. All snacks are posted on the kitchen door. It is the parents responsibility to check the snack list if your child has food allergies. If they cannot have the posted snack please provide one and notify the staff.
CLOTHING
Please dress children for play and creativity. A full change of clothing should be packed every day. Please label everything and place in a large Ziploc bag in your child’s backpack. Please dress for success for children still in training, no difficult snaps, belts, overalls, etc.
SIGN IN and OUT
Classrooms open at 9:00am for children to be dropped off. All parents must “sign in” upon arrival at CDO and provide a number where you can be reached.
Children must be picked up by 1:00pm. The Illinois Child Care Act of 1969 as amended requires all persons picking up a child to record the following:
1. The time the child leaves
2. The name of the person with whom the child is leaving
3. How the child is leaving (car, carpool, walking, etc.)
All parents or authorized pick up persons must sign out each child. If someone other than you or someone on your list is picking up we must be notified in writing ahead of time. Picture) I.D. will be required from the person picking up your child. A late fee is assessed for children picked up after 1:15pm.
ILLNESSES
If symptoms of illness are present, for the sake of others, a child should not be brought to Children’s Day Out. Children should be fever free for 24 hours before returning to CDO. If a child becomes ill while at CDO a parent will be contacted.
MEDICATION
Please notify us if your child has any specific medical needs. We will NOT administer any over the counter medication to any child. Please do not send any medications in lunches, drinks, or bottles. Children with food allergies must have an Allergy Action Plan on file. This directs our staff to administer medication in the event of an emergency. This medication includes EPI Pens, Benadryl etc.
ADJUSTMENT
Some children take a while to adjust to a new situation and others do well at first and then have “delayed reactions”. We will help your child to adjust. It is best for you to hug your child goodbye and remind him/her you will see him/her after lunch. You may always call and check in.
DISCIPLINE
Redirection and positive reinforcement are used to deal with inappropriate behavior. We will not allow one child to disrupt the activities of the entire room.
DROP OFF SERVICE
Drop-off service is available from December 1st to Spring Break. Children are taken out of their cars and taken to their classroom with a teacher. Tuition is payable at that time, ONLY CHECKS & TICKETS are accepted. Parents must sign a Drop Off Waiver in order to use this service.
LICENSING
We operate as a license exempt program registered with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services that conforms with the Illinois Child Care Act, 1969, as amended: sections 7.1, 377.4, and 2.10. We have yearly fire and health clearances.
